What is the difference between ImmusionConvert and ImmusionCreate?
ImmusionConvert is simply a conversion tool that specializes in directly converting 3D models into web models that can be displayed inside a web page. ImmusionCreate is a bit more involved. It provides an interface by which you can fuse images onto a model before exporting the result as a 3D web model. ImmusionConvert is the best choice if you already have a good looking model and you want to display it as a web model. If, however, you want to improve the appearance of your model using image textures, the ImmusionCreate is a better choice.
What input model formats are supported by ImmusionConvert and ImmusionCreate?
The two more common (and most thoroughly tested) input model formats are Collada (*.dae) and OBJ (*.obj). However, Immusion can read other formats as well, including: Open Scene Graph (*.osg and *.ive), Inventor Models (*.iv), VRML Models (*.wrl *.vrml), 3D Studio Models (*.3ds), Canvas 3D Models (*.3dc), GEO Models (*.geo), Quake II Models (*.md2), Lightwave Models (*.lwo), FLT Models (*.flt), AutoCAD Drawing eXchange Format Models (*.dxf). The best way to see if immusion works with your models is to either download our Immusion Convert for free, or try our on-line conversion system.
What do Immusion web models look like?
It depends on what the input model looks like. The goal is for each web model to render exactly as it was built. Please see our Samples Page to get a better idea of what to expect.
Where can I get an Immusion compatible model to work with?
Immusion supports a wide variety of model formats so, if you already have a model, then Immusion can probably read it in directly, or you can find another tool to convert it into an Immusion compatible format. If you don't have a model yet, then consider using Google Sketchup to build one, or consider using a NextEngine Laser Scanner to create one semi-automatically.
How do I get started using Immusion?
It's as easy as download the setup application for ImmusionConvert or ImmusionCreate. Once the application is installed, simply read the user's manual or watch the tutorial videos.
Does Immusion support advanced rendering concepts like translucency and shadows?
Translucency, yes. Shadows, not yet.
Will the target audience for my Immusion generated web models have to install additional software?
Not usually. Immusion's web viewer applet does require that java be installed, but most personal computers already meet this requirement.
Has your 3D web viewer been extensively tested on multiple platforms and web browsers?
We have tested our 3D web viewer on machines running Windows 98/XP/Vista, Mac OS X and Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10. Furthermore, we have tested our viewer with a variety of web browsers, including Internet Explorer 6/7/8, Firefox 1.0/3.0/3.5.3 and current versions of Chrome and Safari. The most important prerequisite is that the client machine have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed (version 1.5 or later). During our testing, we determined that well over 90% of consumers already meet this requirement.
Why isn't the web viewer working for me?

Why didn't you create your web viewer using Flash?
We have not ruled out the possibility of developing a viewer using Flash. However, our primary focus right now lies in delivering a realistic looking, interactive 3D web experience. Flash does not currently support all of the 3D features that we needed to accomplish this goal.
Can your company make my web models for me?
We are primarily a software development company, but we do have a lot of Immusion, CAD modeling and image processing expertise. In some cases, we may be able assist you in building custom web models. Please contact us for our current hourly rates.
